Glacier National Park

Yesterday (August 2) we were in Glacier National Park, Montana and Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada. We did a minimal amount of hiking, but mostly just drove the Going-to-the-Sun Road, which was spectacular.

We had a picnic lunch in the car right just past the visitor center at the top of the mountain, looking out over this:

The picture below is along the stretch of road leaving the park where I saw a black bear swimming in the lake. We were driving along and I spotted him between the trees. We stopped the car and jumped out for a photo opportunity, only to hear something crashing along in the underbrush on the shore. Deciding not to take any chances, we headed back to the car and sat there for a while, hoping he’d appear, but no luck. Oh well, more wildlife sightings were in store for us that day!

  1. It looks so pretty! It makes me think of Rocky Mountain National Park and miss it!

    I got a postcard from Iowa yesterday!! Of a giant cow, which of course, I loved! Yay!!
